Publisher: Institut National de la Recherche Agronomique, France

The "Cahiers d'Economie et Sociologie Rurales" is a journal designed to
serve as an outlet for research in agricultural economics, rural sociology
and agrarian economic history. The journal was founded in 1984 with the
support of INRA, the French institute for agronomic research. It became a
quarterly in 1988. From 1994 on, papers in English are welcome.

The aim of the "Cahiers d'Economie et Sociologie Rurales" is to bring to the
attention of a wide public the research work carried out by the Social
Sciences, Agriculture and Food, Environment and Space Department of INRA.
The idea is also to develop a scientific debate around the themes it deals
with and it therefore is open to contributions from authors from France and
abroad.

As a scientific journal dealing deliberately with concrete problems, it
focuses on agriculture and related activities, the way they function from an
economic point of view, their social characteristics and their relations
with the national and international economy.

Each volume includes the English summaries of all the papers published in
the journal since its foundation. Through its circulation, our intention is
to provide a useful tool to the colleagues involved in research work
concerning the scope of the "Cahiers d'Economie et Sociologie Rurales" and
encourage the international submission of papers.
