Freedom of Speech, The Right to Privacy & Freedom of Thought

FACTNews is distributed monthly via Email by FACTNet (Fight Against
 Coercive Tactics Network, Inc.)

 FACTNet, Inc. is a non-profit, tax-exempt (501[c]3) organization
consisting of a digest, library, archive and dialogue center devoted to
the defense of free speech, free thought and privacy rights
 internationally. Free subscription available.

 FACTNet International

 Our mission:

A non-profit Internet digest, news service, library, dialogue center, and
archive dedicated to the promotion and defense of global free thought,
 free speech, and privacy rights.

How we will accomplish our mission:

 1. We will educate on all aspects of the issues of free thought, free
speech, and privacy. We will continue to provide information on
individuals and organizations which abuse these rights, and we will honor
those who provide a model for these rights' protection.

 2. Where resources allow, we will help to defend and guarantee all forms
of free thought, free speech, and privacy both on and off the Internet
 through all available legal channels.

 3. We will utilize state-of-the-art electronic information transfer and
management to forward our social advocacy goals, and we will share
information with other social advocacy groups.

 4. Applying the principle that "giving a fish provides food for a day, but
teaching to fish provides food for a lifetime," the information, dialogue,
and networking we supply will educate our readers, empowering them with
the tools to achieve their goals. We will be the knowledge base.

 Why the change?

When FACTNet was formed more than three years ago, our goal was to provide
users with extensive information on mind control and organizations which
use mind control techniques. We felt it was vital to educate people about
these practices because of the threat they pose to our basic human rights,
infringing upon privacy, stifling free thought, and making free speech
impossible. But as we have grown we have discovered a tremendous need for
a single, international repository of information not only about mind
control, but also about the rights which mind control practices threaten.
Thus, our new mission is to defend global free thought, free speech, and
privacy; and within this, we will continue our scrutiny of organizations
 which threaten these vital rights.

Why we focus on free thought, free speech, and privacy issues:

 1. Free thought. We believe that free thought is fundamental to free
speech. All our freedoms become enfeebled or meaningless without free
 thought.

 2. Privacy. We believe that insofar as free speech is the expression of an
individual or organizational entity, that entity's integrity must be
safeguarded through a certain measure of privacy. The privacy rights of
our organization and its directors were shattered when our library was
illegally raided in 1995, thrusting our organization into the center of
the controversy over electronic privacy rights. Click here to read media
 coverage on the raid.

 3. Free speech. We believe that both on and off the Internet free speech
is critical to improving and protecting humankindUs future.
