An international forum for research using qualitative methods to examine
human behaviour in natural settings, the Journal of Contemporary
Ethnography explores a variety of topics, providing valuable insights into
everyday experiences.
The Journal of Contemporary Ethnography brings you relevant material that
deals with the broad spectrum of human nature and behaviour - in
individuals, organizations and societies - from an interdisciplinary and
cross-cultural perspective. Recent articles include:
* Teaching fieldwork to graduate students
* How parish officials and members put Vatican II principles into practice
* Responses of military men and their wives to gender integration
* How karaoke bar patrons become regular performers
* Experiences of volunteers in a homeless shelter
* How medical students neutralize moral dirty work
Among recent contributors to the journal are ethnographers in applied
settings as well as those in Anthropology, Sociology, Communication
Studies, Education, Management, Leisure Studies, Public Affairs and Health
Sciences.
The Journal of Contemporary Ethnography editorial focus includes original
and theoretically significant studies based upon participant-observation,
unobtrusive observation, intensive interviewing and contextualized
analysis of discourse, as well as examinations of such ethnographic
methods. And, in addition to its book review section, the journal
regularly features review symposiums and review essays.
The on-line edition is a reproduction of the print edition.
