LAN Times Parts
http://www.ltparts.com/
Put simply, PARTS is a weekly electronic magazine devoted to component
technologies. As such, it abhors monolithic, bloated applications,
deplores proprietary software, and downright despises applications that
can't work together. What it does like are small, open, and interoperable
applications and applications-building technologies such as ActiveX,
OpenDoc, Java, and JavaBeans.
As you might expect, PARTS appeals to software developers. Yet PARTS is
much more than that. It speaks to users who wish to make the most of their
computing experience. And it aids systems administrators who must look
after these small applications.
No matter which of these groups you fall into, PARTS will provide you with
a number of weekly services, including up-to-the-minute news, insightful
product reviews, intriguing online discussions, and pointers to invaluable
online resources. It even offers a weekly newsletter, E-mailed to your
home.
Recent Contents:
* Milk and Crypto-cookies
* Much Ado About Something
* Let Java do the Walking
* Reviews:
This week Editor at Large
Shane Turner goes browsing
with DHTML (Dynamic
HyperText Markup
Language), Microsoft Corp.'s
idea of Web interactivity.
PARTS takes on that elusive
nether land between Microsoft
ActiveX and Java with a
preview of the Taligent Inc.
JavaBeans Migration Assistant
for ActiveX version 1.0.
We put Apple Computer Inc.'s
OpenDoc 1.2 under the
microscope. Is it too little too
late?
