The Journal of Gay & Lesbian Social Services is a publication promoting the
well-being of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people in contemporary
society! Filled with innovative ideas and resources for the design,
evaluation, and delivery of social services for these populations at all
stages of life, the journal is a positive influence on the development of
public and social policy, programs and services, and social work practice.
Dedicated to the development of knowledge which meets the practical needs of
lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered people in their social context,
the Journal of Gay & Lesbian Social Services is a forum for studying, for
example, the connection between the public issues of homophobia and
heterosexism and the personal, day-to-day experiences of people affected by
these attitudes.
The Journal of Gay & Lesbian Social Services provides timely articles
containing the latest information on these topics and more:
* health and medical services
* mental health services
* family services
* foster care and child welfare
* school services
* juvenile and adult corrections
* services for the aging
* Internet resources.
Upcoming special issues will focus on: Special thematic issues focus on
single topics, such as:
* research methods with gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender populations
* caregiving for aging gay men and lesbians
* gay men living with chronic illness
* an ecological perspective on lesbian families
* midlife and aging in gay America
* gay men and childhood sexual trauma.
The Journal of Gay & Lesbian Social Services provides up-to-date research
for program administrators and supervisors, human behavior researchers,
social planners and policy specialists, community developers and organizers,
case managers, and direct service practitioners involved with the gay
community.
