General Description from Volume 1:
The Ulam Quarterly is now available electronically to the mathematics
community. The refereed journal, established in January 1992 as a
memorial to Stanislaw Ulam, is available online in either AMSTEX or
Postscript form. It is offered without charge, courtesy of Palm Beach
Atlantic College Mathematics Department with support from the University
of Florida. The first two issues include a significant and unpublished
work of N. Jacobson and an interpretation of Alexandre Grothendieck's
prenotes for EGA V on Bertini type theorems.
The Ulam Quarterly is available using anonymous FTP from math.ufl.edu or
goliath.pbac.edu in the directory pub/ulam/volume1. For more
information contact Piotr Blass, Department of Mathematics, Palm Beach
Atlantic College, (407) 835-4353, or by e-mail at
blass@goliath.pbac.edu.

Volume II, Number 4
You will find the Journal in several files for Volume II, Number 4.
Unlike previous issues which were all produced using AMS-TeX, this issue
is produced using a variety of TeX dialects with all the articles in
this issue being in LaTeX with only the title and cover page produced
using AMS-TeX.
You will find both TeX (*.tex) files and Postscript (*.ps) files. In
addition you will find Postscript graphic files in (*.eps) which are
part of some of the doucuments. This is our first attempt in a
substantial way at including graphics in the articles . The filenames
and the contents are given below for Volume II, Number 4.

If you have a Postscript printer, downloading the Postscript files named
.ps and .eps for direct printing would be the preferred method for
getting a quick print.
If you choose to download the .tex files then you need to
know the following:
1. They are written in AMS-TeX, or TeX or LaTeX.
2. You will need to download file
ulam6.tex (contains various macros and TeX
formatting instructions to produce
the articles in AMS-TeX).
to do the processing.
3. Due to differences in fonts between systems,
you may get some
"overful \hbox" errors.
These can be ignored and the blackboxes
normally appearing with these will not print.
4. To process the LaTeX files you need to download the file
oulam.sty and oulambk10.sty, then use latex to process
the file.
We regret that it is no longer possible to retrieve Volume II, Number 4
in its entirety.
