Now in its sixth year, The Underground Informer is an established
publication which began as an independent newsletter carried on one BBS
(Baud Town) in March 1990. It became a multi- BBS publication in July 1992
after a mutual decision among the UI publisher and Baud Town's sysops to
discontinue distribution of the UI in June 1992.
As a publication written by and for BBS'ers, the UI focuses on the entire
Southern California BBS scene, from one-liners to the largest multi-line
boards, including reports on BBS social meets, sports events, even wedding
and birth announcements--in short, the kind of news one might expect in a
small-town newspaper. Because of the UI's focus on the BBS community, the
presence of the UI online can help any board become a stronger part of
that community. Acknowledging the rapidly growing importance of the
Internet to BBSes and their callers, the UI also covers interesting and
amusing news from the 'net.
The UI continues its policy of publishing the best creative work of BBS
users, including short stories, humorous essays, social commentary,
cartoons and poems. UI also features BBS news and software/hardware news
and reviews.
