Interlibrary & Consortium (WRLC) Loans

Books & Media

  1. Check HoyaSearch. Georgetown books located on HoyaSearch as "Available at Lauinger Library Stacks," allow patrons to look for the item on site.
  2. If the item is not available at Georgetown, but is available at a consortium library, select Consortium Request.
  3. If the item is not available at Georgetown or through the WRLC, then an Interlibrary Loan (ILL) may be available.
If the material you need is not available at Georgetown or Consortium Libraries, place a request through Interlibrary Loan. After you place the request, ILL staff will attempt to find an available copy of the item from another library. If the item you require is unavailable, ILL staff will let you know.

Recalls & Holds

HOLD SHELF Items

  • HoyaSearch items "Available at Lauinger Library Off-Campus Storage" or "Consortium Libraries" generally take 1-3 business days to arrive.
  • Interlibrary Loans may be shipped from around the world or other parts of the country. Average delivery times for Interlibrary Loans are 7-14 business days.
  • Notifications are sent for every item once the item has been placed on the hold shelf.

RECALL Fines

  • Recall fines apply to all borrowers and are $5 per item per day. There is no maximum limit on recall fines.

RECALL Notices

  • Items recalled to be placed on Course Reserves must be returned in seven days, and take priority over items available to an individual loan. Items that have been recalled for Course Reserves will be made available to students that need access to materials. Course Reserves are especially useful for heavy or expensive textbooks, but may apply to any items needed for a course.
  • Recall notices are automatically generated and e-mailed. You should regularly check your HoyaSearch Account on the Library's website to check for recalls on your items in case the recall notification e-mail ends up in a spam folder.
  • Materials are subject to recall at ANY TIME. If you plan to be out of town for an extended period of time, please return borrowed items or arrange with someone to receive notices and return recalled material for you. Main Campus libraries are open during intersessions, so recalled items may be due any time the libraries are open.
