Introduction to Vinyl Cutting

Vinyl cutters are amazing tools for cutting out custom shapes in vinyl. The vinyl can then be used for super durable stickers, stencils, and can even be heat transferred onto clothing. In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn the basics of operating the Maker Hub's vinyl cutters. This includes basic design in Silhouette Studio, how to test the vinyl cutter blades, selecting a material, and adjusting cut settings. Upon completion of the workshop, participants will have all the skills necessary to prepare files for and set up the laser cutter. Please be aware that this workshop does not qualify you to start laser cuts. Only Maker Hub Volunteers who have completed the two part Laser Safety Training are allowed to start cut jobs on the laser cutter. Note: Close-toed shoes must be worn in the Maker Hub. Please see the Safety Page for all Maker Hub rules: https://www.library.georgetown.edu/makerhub/safety.
