- Name, job title, and location: Emily Silva, Acquisitions Specialist at Lauinger Library's Technical Services department.
- What do you do—in 10 words or less? I acquire library materials while managing funds, invoicing, and payments.
- Where are you from? I’m a local! Born in DC, but have always lived in Rockville, Maryland.
- Do you have any hobbies? I really love to draw and paint when I can. I also did ballet for several years. More often, though, you’ll find me reading.
- What are you reading/watching/playing/listening to/learning right now? By recommendation from the Lattes and Lit book club here at the library, I am currently reading Stardust by Neil Gaiman. I’m also watching the new season of Stranger Things on Netflix (I know, I’m a bit late to the party). I'm currently learning how to build and design my own website!
- If you didn’t work in your current field, what would you be doing? While it may not be the most realistic, I would love to simply take drawing/painting commissions from home. Or, perhaps I would enjoy photographing pet portraits.
- You are building your dream house. What is one room or feature you would want to include? I would love to have floor-to-ceiling windows for all of my plants. I’m a big fan of natural light.
- Do you collect anything? When I was a child, I collected snow globes. The collection has since dwindled down, but I still keep a box of my favorites.
- What couldn’t you live without? My cat, Kenna, for sure. She is the light of my life and the absolute sweetest animal I’ve ever had.
- Who would play you in the movie about your life? I often get told that my celebrity twin is Shailene Woodley, and I think she would deliver a good performance.
