Drill bits are designed to drill holes in a variety of different common materials. These include different types of wood, metal, plastic, ceramic tile, porcelain and concrete. The Maker Hub has several types of drill bits to cover a wide range of project needs. The main types of drill bits and their uses are:
- Twist drill bits - for use on wood, metal, plastic, etc. A great general purpose drill bit.
- Spade drill bits - for use on wood only to drill large diameter holes. These bits work fast but create rough holes.
- Forstner drill bits - for use on wood only to drill large diameter holes. These bits are slow but provide clean and accurate holes
- Step drill bits - for use on wood and metal. These bits are fantastic for enlarging holes especially with sheet metal projects.
