Sewing machines are essential tools for any textile work, and our hands-on workshop will equip you with the fundamental skills to use them confidently. In this session, you will learn how to operate the Maker Hub’s sewing machines, including essential techniques and tips for successful sewing. In this workshop, you will:

  • Machine Operation: Discover how to wind and load a bobbin, and thread the sewing machine correctly for smooth operation.
  • Material and Thread Selection: Understand how to choose appropriate materials and thread for different sewing projects.
  • Stitch Styles: Explore various stitch styles and their applications, learning how to select the right stitch for your needs.
  • Practical Skills: Gain hands-on experience in setting up and using the sewing machine to start your own projects with confidence.

By the end of the workshop, you’ll have the skills needed to embark on your own sewing projects and create beautiful textile pieces.

Please wear closed-toed shoes, and review the Maker Hub’s rules on our website prior to attending.
