Assembly and Finishing - Making an Irish Low Stool with Gavin Fritsch (3)

In this final session, you’ll assemble all the carefully crafted pieces of your stool and give it the finishing touches that will make it truly stand out.

After dry-fitting the legs into the seat to ensure everything aligns, you’ll glue and wedge the tenons, securing the legs in place. Once the glue has dried, we’ll trim the tenons and smooth out any rough spots with planes and sandpaper, ensuring a polished look. Next, you’ll get to choose how you want to finish your stool. You’ll leave this session with a fully assembled, beautifully finished Irish Low Stool—a perfect example of traditional woodworking with a modern twist.

This final step completes the rewarding journey from raw wood to functional furniture, and you’ll have a piece you can proudly display or use in your home.
