This exhibit features some recent contributions to the study of the Divine Comedy of Dante Alighieri (1265-1321), Italian writer and thinker. The exhibit displays images from the Trillium Press editions of Dante, which depict Inferno, Purgatorio, and Paradiso in the context of modern American cities and provide contemporary-language translations of the Commedia. San Francisco-based Trillium Press* is highlighted because its Publishing and Special Projects Director is Georgetown alumnus Noah Lang (C'95). Other new visions of Dante in this exhibit include other recent translations of Dante; a modern printing of William Blake's Illustrations to the Divine Comedy; and information about Georgetown's "My Dante" project, a web-based, interactive hypertext edition of Dante's epic poem that enables readers to develop an illustrated, annotated, personalized copy of the text.
*Trillium Press recently changed its name to Electric Works.
