Pierce Reading Room to Close for Major Expansion, Renovation

A mockup of the revamped Pierce Reading Room with radically expanded floor space, new furniture and a Digital Studio.

Lauinger Library’s Pierce Reading Room will soon undergo a major renovation and expansion, with construction expected to begin in early January 2025 and anticipated to be completed in December 2025. The space will be unavailable for use throughout the duration of the demolition and construction project.

This ongoing project will expand the Pierce Reading Room on the third floor of the library and create a mix of informal study and small group collaboration rooms, as well as a new Digital Lab with a large-format video wall for interactive teaching and learning and special events.
