Staff Spotlight: Saori Pustejovsky

What do you do—in one sentence: I order, receive and pay invoices for all library resources selected by faculty and liaison librarians to support teaching, learning and research at Georgetown University Library materials in all formats.  These items include electronic books, streaming videos, course reserves and printed books acquired for Lauinger, School of Continuing Studies, Blommer Science, and Bioethics Research libraries from a variety of publishers, suppliers and vendors.

 

Where are you from? Oita, Japan (southern part of Japan).

 

Why Georgetown/D.C.? I've lived in D.C. for 15 years. I heard Georgetown University Library is a good place to work and it is true. I like working here!

 

What are some of your hobbies? Drawing, calligraphy, running, writing, reading and learning other languages.

What are you listening to right now? “Otonoke" by Creepy Nuts, Kenshi Yonezu

 

If you could be present for any event of the past, present, or future, what would it be? One of my favorite authors is Haruki Murakami. I want to go back in time and help at the 2004 Marino Family International Writers' Academic Workshop because they featured Haruki Murakami, After the Quake!

 

What's your superpower/hidden talent? I’ve reached 8 Dan in calligraphy–the highest rank!

 

What material thing could you not live without? Books.

 

If you didn’t work in your current field, what would you be doing? I want to be a novelist. I will keep writing and trying.

 

You are building your dream house. What is one room or feature you would want to include? A library.
