The Library is now accepting applications for the Student Library Council for the 2024–2025 academic year.
The Student Library Council serves as a formal channel of communication between the library and undergraduate and graduate students on the Main and School of Continuing Studies Campuses.
Meeting and working with library staff and administrators, the council advises and gives feedback on improving collections, services, and spaces and discusses library issues affecting student life at Georgetown. Members of the Council represent their peers and foster engagement between the library and the University community.
SLC members are also actively involved in library initiatives, such as hosting therapy dogs and de-stress activities during finals, and helping produce materials on how to use the library more effectively.
All Main Campus and SCS students, both graduates and undergraduates, are invited to apply to join the council. There are no prerequisites to join apart from a drive to help make the library an even better resource for you and your peers. We are interested in having a wide range of voices and perspectives on the council, so students from all classes and schools are encouraged to apply.
We are particularly looking for representation from graduate students and first-year students from any school or program. The council will meet from 5:00 - 6:15 pm on:
- Tuesday, Sept. 24
- Wednesday, Oct. 23
- Thursday, Nov. 21
- Tuesday, Jan 21
- Wednesday, Feb 19
Dinner is served during meetings!
Applications are due by midnight on September 10. Members will be notified shortly thereafter.
