About the book

Written by Colombia’s celebrated Nobel laureate, Gabriel García Márquez, One Hundred Years of Solitude weaves a multigenerational saga of the Buendía family in the mythical town of Macondo. It explores themes of love, power, solitude, and the cyclical nature of history. Renowned for its lyrical prose and fantastical elements seamlessly blended with reality, it remains a timeless tale of human existence.

Lattes member Adriana Cortés Buelva found this short TEDed video that provides some context without revealing many spoilers. Thank you, Adriana!

After you read the novel, enjoy binge-watching the newly released adaptation of One Hundred Years of Solitude on Netflix, and join us on January 24 to discuss the book and the show.
