Caring for the new "Jack" fell solely on the Mascot Committee and the student body. This flyer was distributed by the Mascot Committee in 1963 in an attempt to raise money to feed and take care of “Jack.”

GEORGETOWN MASCOT COMMITTEE
FELLOW STUDENTS:
As most of you know, JACK, the Georgetown mascot, is back
on campus and ready for another year. The object of this news
letter is simple - the Mascot Committee needs funds. When JACK
was purchased last year, it was done so on the condition that,
as the students' mascot, his expenses would be entirely paid by
student contribution. This year our proposed budget comes to
approximately $800. Breaking it down, it looks like this:
Printing of stock certificates and this past
summer's feeding and veterinary expenses - $150
Insurance (liability insurance which the University
requiers us to carry) - $100
Feeding JACK and the upkeep on the doghouse for
the coming year - $50
Construction of a permanent, large fenced-in area
with alarm system - $250
Veterinary care in the coming year - $50
Blankets, leashes, bedding, and other supplies - $50
TOTAL - $800
The only means we have of raising this money is through your
purchase of the stock certificates. Last year's shareholders
gave enough to enable us to purchase and maintain JACK for
almost one year. These funds are gone, we are faced with
another year's expenses, and we have no alternative but to turn
to the students if JACK is to remain the Georgetown mascot.
In the next few days the members of the Committee will call on
you and ask for your help in keeping JACK a Georgetown tradition.
REMEMBER - HE IS YOUR DOG AND HE NEEDS YOUR SUPPORT NOW!!
Sincerely,
Stan Samorajczyk
