The annual Tanous Family Endowed Lecture will feature producer and director Jon Turteltaub in conversation with Georgetown President John J. DeGioia.
Turteltaub is known for blockbusters including National Treasure, National Treasure: Book of Secrets, Cool Runnings, While You Were Sleeping, and, most recently, The Meg. He has also produced and directed television projects, such as Jericho. His father, Saul Turteltaub, is a legendary writer and producer who worked on The Carol Burnett Show, Sanford & Son, and What’s Happening!
With his wife, Amy Eldon, Jon spends considerable time in Africa, where he funds an orphanage in Kenya and works to protect and rehabilitate child soldiers in Uganda. In the United States, he works with The Creative Visions Foundation, which supports artists and activists, and serves on the Directors Guild of America’s Western Directors Council, as an advisor to Represent.Us, and on the board of the Inner-City Filmmakers Program.
The lecture will be held February 27 at 5:30 p.m. in href="https://eventmanagement.georgetown.edu/gastonhall/">Gaston Hall on the third floor of Healy Hall. It is open to all Georgetown faculty, staff, and students, and to Georgetown University Library Associates.
The Tanous Family Endowed Lecture Fund was established by Peter J. Tanous (C'60) in 2010 in honor of Lauinger Library’s 40th anniversary.
