Recognizing Fall 2025 Graduating Student Library Council Members

The Library is fortunate to have many friends and supporters, but some of our best allies and advocates are the undergrad and grad students on the Student Library Council. The SLC includes representatives from every school and college at Georgetown, and members have many interests and club affiliations. This diversity provides the Library with input from a wide range of voices and backgrounds.

The SLC is the ideal sounding board when we have questions about library services, collections, or space usage and need honest feedback about how our resources can be harnessed to benefit the Georgetown community. They also serve as ambassadors between the student body and the Library, bringing issues to our attention and helping us get the word out about events and opportunities other students should be aware of.

Many thanks go out to those who served on the SLC during their years at Georgetown (Becca Haley, Adriane Longhurst, Nicholas Nelson, Atsede Siba, Theo Simonton) and a special thanks to the following students graduating in May 2025: Lizzie Markovich, Caroline Samoluk, Denny Okudinani, and Grace Parcover. We are incredibly grateful to all our Student Library Council members for their dedicated service to Georgetown and the Library. All will be sorely missed.

Lizzie Markovich
Human science

Lizzie is from Houston, Texas, and has been on the SLC for all 4 years of her time at Georgetown. She’s also been an active member of the Lattes & Lit book club. Lizzie could always be counted on to volunteer for library events such as NSO, GWOW, and to give tours for GAAP. Her love of libraries and care for others has made her a much-loved member of SLC.

Lizzie shared that, “SLC has been one of the most rewarding groups to join on campus. I love being able to contribute to things happening in the library, and to make it better for all the students (since we spend so much time there!). I've really enjoyed getting to know people on SLC throughout my time here, and will miss it dearly when I graduate!”

Caroline Samoluk
English

Caroline is from Andover, MA. In addition to being an active member of the SLC all 4 years at GU, she has also been very involved in Georgetown Student Theater. Caroline was the student lead on the production team for the How to Lau video series and wrote the script and narrated the Find your place in the Library.

“Being on the Student Library Council has been an incredibly fulfilling and meaningful experience. I have been so fortunate to get to know the library so well and the incredible people who work at Lau. I feel that through SLC I have made a real difference in such a great community."

Denny Okudinani
Computer science and physics

Denny is our longest-serving member of the SLC and an integral part of the Maker Hub community. His knowledge of coding and experience using AI tools helped inform the Library’s AI working group as they planned instructional opportunities for students and faculty.

“The SLC was the only club I ever applied to on campus. An old friend encouraged me to apply, and the rest became history. I’ve always loved the warmth from those sitting on the council…I will always be grateful for the Maker Hub—more folks should go down and learn more about it.“

Grace Parcover
International politics

Grace was active with the SLC from 2022-2023. As a student employee in Lauinger Library, Grace had useful insights about promoting resources like Lean Library, Interlibrary Loan and Consortium requests, and how to report issues with the printers and large-format scanners.

She was also on the working group that planned “De-Stress” activities in the library after we came back to campus after the pandemic, including offering coloring and Legos on the 2nd floor and hosting visits from therapy dogs.

The Library wishes all Georgetown graduates much success and happiness as you pursue your future endeavors!
