Georgetown’s Most Academically Rigorous Dance Party

We’re excited to welcome the Georgetown community back to Club Lau as part of the Library’s celebration of 230 Years of Access and Excellence! Before you put on your dancing shoes, here are a few things to know.
Who can attend Club Lau?
Club Lau is exclusively for current Georgetown University students, faculty, and staff. The event is not open to the general public, alumni, or outside guests.
Non-University-affiliated guests, including spouses, partners, significant others, friends, and family members, will not be admitted. Each attendee must independently be a current Georgetown University student, faculty member, or staff member and present a valid Georgetown University ID for admission.
We know that some members of our community may ordinarily attend University social events with a guest or partner; however, due to the nature of Club Lau and the capacity and safety considerations associated with hosting the event in the Pierce Reading Room, we are unable to accommodate guests for this event.
Do I need my Georgetown ID?
Yes. No ID, no entry. Please bring your current Georgetown University ID. Library staff, in partnership with the Georgetown University Police Department (GUPD), will manage admission.
Only individuals with a valid University ID identifying them as a current Georgetown student, faculty member, or staff member will be admitted.
Do I need a ticket?
No. Club Lau is not a ticketed event, and admission is free. However, attendance is limited by the maximum capacity of the Pierce Reading Room.
Admission will be managed on a first-come, first-admitted basis. We strongly encourage you to arrive early. Reaching capacity may require us to temporarily or permanently suspend admission during the evening.
What should I wear?
It’s a dance party—have fun with it! 🕺🏽💃🏽🪩
Comfortable footwear is strongly encouraged. You may discover that four hours on the Pierce Reading Room dance floor is more athletic than anticipated.
Can I bring a backpack, purse, or other bag?
Yes, but bag sizes will be limited for safety and to help us manage the dance floor and available space. The event will allow a maximum bag size of 10" x 6" x 3". This typically includes small purses, clutches, or small crossbody bags. Larger bags, backpacks, and items that exceed the size limit are not allowed. There will be no coat or bag check.
Who is the DJ?
We are delighted to welcome DJ Premonition, the official GameDay DJ for the Washington Commanders, to Club Lau!
He’ll be bringing the energy. You bring the dance moves.
Will there be food and refreshments?
Yes. Light refreshments will be available during the event.
Can I bring my child or pet?
To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone and to remain within the Pierce Reading Room’s capacity, children and pets (with the exception of service animals) will not be permitted at the event.
What are the expectations for conduct?
Club Lau is about music, dancing, belonging, and community, and we want everyone to have a fun and safe evening.
All attendees remain members of the Georgetown community while at Club Lau and are expected to conduct themselves accordingly. Georgetown’s Code of Student Conduct reflects our shared commitments to integrity, respect, responsibility, and care for our community.
University policies remain in effect throughout the event. Please respect your fellow Hoyas, Library staff, GUPD officers, our DJ and event partners, the Pierce Reading Room, and the Library itself.
Disruptive, unsafe, threatening, destructive, or otherwise inappropriate behavior may result in removal from Club Lau and may be referred through appropriate University processes.
Will I be able to leave and come back?
Re-entry will be subject to current room capacity. Leaving Club Lau does not guarantee immediate re-entry if the Pierce Reading Room has reached its maximum capacity.

One last question: Is dancing actually allowed in the Library?
For one very special night, absolutely.
For 230 years, the Library has been a place for scholarship, discovery, creativity, belonging, and community. Club Lau promises to bring all of these experiences together for one truly special, memory-making moment.
