Celebrating 230 Years of Access and Excellence 1796-2026

Georgetown University owes the beginnings of its library to its third president, Louis Guillaume Valentin DuBourg, who in 1796 brought with him more than 100 volumes from Baltimore.

Rededication of the Pierce Reading Room

The library gathered on April 10, 2026 to formally rededicate the Pierce Reading Room after its renovation. Remarks were given by University Librarian and Dean of the Library, Alexia Hudson-Ward; Robert Groves, Interim University President; Rev. Mark Bosco, University Vice President for Mission and Ministry; Soyica Diggs Colbert, Interim Provost; Bart Moore, University Vice President for Advancement; Michael Heffernan, University Library Board Chair; and David Green, Chief Operating Officer and University Executive Vice President.
