Join this virtual workshop for a demonstration of how to use the Archives of the Maryland Province of the Society of Jesus, Georgetown Slavery Archive, and other digital sites to identify the people enslaved by the Jesuits and the Black church members who helped the Jesuits build parishes after emancipation.
The workshop will address:
- The extent of the records held by Georgetown
- The use of the Georgetown Slavery Archive to access financial records
- Using the finding aid for the Maryland Province Archives
- Understanding the church records held by Georgetown and using them to identify Black parishioners
- Connecting records held at Georgetown with those held by other repositories
