Georgetown University Summer Wikipedia Edit-a-thon — Virtual

The title "Wikipedia" is in the branded typography of the site. Below it the word "Edit-a-Thon" has each letter as if torn or cut from a magazine with different colors and fonts.

Join us for the Georgetown Summer Wikipedia Edit-a-thon hosted virtually — Editing for Equity: Closing the Wikipedia Gender Gap. Continuing the efforts from the Georgetown University Wikipedia Edit-a-thon hosted during Women’s History Month, we invite you to join the Georgetown community to help close this gender gap on Wikipedia by increasing the representation of underrepresented groups — in both Wikipedia content and contributors — on topics such as women in politics, women in STEM, and women in the arts.

  • 11-12 pm: Training* (encourage all new editors to attend) — presented by WikiDC
  • 12-2 pm: Wikipedia Edit-a-thon

New editors are strongly encouraged to attend the Training session starting at 11am. Depending on experience, participants can join for one or both parts depending on their availability and experience with Wikipedia editing. Training is also open to others as a refresher!

No Wikipedia editing experience necessary. There will be hands-on training provided by representatives from Wikimedia District of Columbia. Training will be provided from 11am-12pm (on the same zoom link).

As part of a collaboration across the University, Georgetown University is also partnering with Wikimedia District of Columbia.
