Reporting on the United States’ Long War Against Al-Qaeda

Color photo of Osama Bin Ladan and Peter Bergen

This marks the twenty-fifth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. Four different US Presidents waged wars against al-Qaeda and its affiliated groups. International correspondent Peter Bergen asks what do we know now about al-Qaeda and bin Laden that we didn’t understand two and half decades ago?

Drawing on his donation of 150,000 pages of documents and countless interviews to Georgetown, Bergen discusses his reporting on al-Qaeda, bin Laden, and the US response to them. This rich collection of materials will become available to researchers in the fall of 2026.

Refreshments will be served.
