The Donald W. Ide Memorial Book Fund was establish
ed in 1969 in memory of Donald William Ide, F'67 by his parents. Donald was a lieutenant in the Army. He died in Vietnam. President Henle wrote to Mr. and Mrs. Ide on the occasion of the fund's establishment:
"I understand that your son spent many hours in the old Riggs Library here and that your gift is for the purchase of new books for the new library, opening in January 1970.
This is a magnificent gift to the future students of the university your son loved so well and a worthy memorial to your beloved son who will be remembered in my prayers tomorrow and at the dedication of the new building early next year."
The fund is used for general acquisitions.
