The Spalding Book Endowment Fund was established by Caroline Smith C'74. Born in Lebanon, Kentucky in 1928, she was a descendant of the Spaldings who settled in Maryland circa 1650 and later in Kentucky and Georgia, and she named the endowment in their honor. She was a member of the Library Associates Board of Trustees. She died on July 11, 1983.
The fund is used to purchase materials in American Studies.
