Help Shape the Library: Join the Student Library Council

John Student Library Council 2023, homepage

The Library is now accepting applications for the Student Library Council for the 2026–27 academic year.

The Student Library Council serves as a formal channel of communication between undergraduate and graduate students on the Hilltop and Capitol Campuses and the Library. Working with Library staff and administrators, the Council advises and gives feedback on improving collections, services, and spaces, and discusses library issues affecting the student body. Members of the Council represent their peers and foster engagement between the Library and the University community. SLC members are also actively involved in Library initiatives, such as hosting book club meetings, therapy dog visits, leading de-stress activities during finals, and helping to produce materials on how to use the Library more effectively.

All Hilltop and Capitol Campus students, both graduate and undergraduate, are invited to apply to join the Council. There are no prerequisites to join, apart from your enthusiasm to help make the Library an even better resource for yourself and your peers. We are interested in having a wide range of voices and perspectives on the Council, so students from all subjects and schools are encouraged to apply. We are particularly looking for representation from first-year students and graduate students from any school or program.

The meeting times for the 2026/2027 school year are from 5:00-6:15 pm on:

Wednesday, Sept. 23
Tuesday, Oct. 20
