New York Times, Washington Post Now Available to All Hoyas

Washington Post and New York Times logos

Effective January 1, the Library has signed contracts giving students, staff, and faculty on all Georgetown campuses free access to the websites of the New York Times and the Washington Post.

Our contracts give all Hoyas an Academic Pass to the New York Times, which provides full access to current stories on nytimes.com and 5 articles per day from the archives, but not access to Crosswords, Cooking, or The Athletic. Washington Post access includes today’s paper and the last 15 years of stories on washingtonpost.com. Both can be accessed via or the newspapers’ respective websites or mobile apps.

Instructions for accessing the newspapers are available in the New York Times and Washington Post pages of our News & Commentary research guide. If you have technical issues accessing either of these papers, please contact eresources@georgetown.edu.

Note that the Lean Library browser extension is one of the methods that will grant access to the Washington Post. We strongly encourage all Hoyas to install Lean Library, as it allows you to directly access many Library subscriptions, including databases and journal articles, whether you find them through the Library website or not.
