Stories From The Stacks

"Modern Techniques of Information Retention", a fake book hiding two cans of Red Bull energy drink

In February 2017, the Library began a comprehensive inventory of its entire print collection. Staff have been diligently scanning each and every item with barcode scanners to ensure that they are shelved correctly and to have an opportunity to address any other items there may be with the title. As you can imagine, throughout this process our staff have found some misplaced and downright unusual items! Here are some of their favorite stories from the stacks!

  • Modern Techniques for Information Retention which was actually a hollow book containing two cans of Red Bull energy drink!
  • The book Beaute du Monde Animal, tome IV, Mammieres. This was a large picture book about mammals that belonged to La Poudriere, a film school in France.
  • An art project/ "fake" library book with a call number in the Ds, and the title Lau: Not Just An Ugly Building. Inside was a history of [Joseph Mark] Lauinger himself and the building! I left it there for everyone to enjoy.
