Anglo-Irish natural philosopher Robert Boyle is often called the “father of chemistry.” His work extended into physics, medicine, alchemy, natural theology and more. He discovered what came to be called Boyle’s law: the inverse relationship between volume and pressure in a gas, where temperature remains constant.
