Project Rebirth Screening & Discussion: The Annual Casey-McIlvane Memorial Lecture

September 11th Memorial in New York City

On September 11 from 6:00pm-8:00pm, the Library and the Library Associates will host Project Rebirth Screening & Discussion: The Annual Casey-McIlvane Memorial Lecture. This year’s lecture will feature a screening of selected clips from the Project Rebirth documentary and remarks from Brian Rafferty, (CAS’79), Chairman, Project Rebirth, Georgetown Board of Regents, Randy Bass, Vice-Provost for Education, Professor of English, Georgetown University, General George Casey (USA, Retired) (F’70), Georgetown Board of Directors, and Bill Keegan, Founder and President of Heart 9/11.

Project Rebirth is an organization dedicated to supporting the survivors of catastrophic events including the September 11, 2001 World Trade Center attacks. Project Rebirth’s films facilitate powerful lessons on how human beings can build resilience personally, professionally and in their communities and organizations. These films are now part of the DigitalGeorgetown repository and are available to the entire Georgetown University community.

The Casey-McIlvane Endowed Library Lecture Fund was established in memory of Francis L. Casey, Jr., C’50, L’53, and in honor of the Reverend Donald W. McIlvane, F’46 through the generous joint gift of Nancy McIlvane Del Genio, F’82 and the late Roseanne McIlvane Casey, S’79. In previous years the lecture has featured many esteemed speakers including Professor Bárbara Mujica, Professor Carolyn L. Forché, and Professor Duncan Wu.
