In conjunction with the upcoming talk by George Saunders, "Lincoln in the Bardo: Intersectionality between Catholicism, Buddhism, and Writing," on Thursday, April 11 at 5:30 pm, April’s Recommended Reading book display highlights "The World of George Saunders."
On display, you can find books by George Saunders, such as CivilWarLand in Bad Decline: Stories and a Novella and Tenth of December. Also featured are books he has read (according to this NYT article): Swing Time, We have Always Lived in the Castle, Words Without Music, and more. Looking to read about Buddhism and/or Catholicism? Check out Zen Catholicism or Awakening to Prayer. You will also find books about the Civil War, Lincoln, and 19th Century views of death: Continuing Bonds with the Dead or Lincoln’s Sanctuary: Abraham Lincoln and the Soldiers’ Home. Works by Catholic authors and Man Booker Prize winners are also on display. If you see a book you like, you can check it out on the spot.
The Recommended Reading Book Shelf is located right across from the Circulation and Reference Desks. If you want to browse the display virtually, check out the "World of George Saunders" site. We want to hear from you! Send us your feedback about this month's book display. In the meantime, happy browsing!
