A Glimpse Within: Backrooms Peephole Box

This project is a miniature peephole installation inspired by the collaborative horror universe of the Backrooms. Using Arduino to control lighting and sound, along with laser-cut exterior panels and 3D-printed figures, it recreates two distinct levels: Level 0 and Level !. The viewer can press a button to switch between immersive lighting and audio modes, and look through two different peepholes to experience contrasting moods and spatial layouts. I wanted to capture the unstable, unpredictable atmosphere of the Backrooms, where calm and danger coexist in the same environment. What I am most proud of is the way visual and sensory elements work together to create a layered experience, and through this process, I learned how important it is to design with flexibility in mind, as each early choice can shape the entire direction of a project.
