Housing Stories from Eurasia

For the seminar REES 5577 Socialist and Post-Socialist Cities taught by Prof. Kathleen Smith, graduate students from three programs worked together to collect oral histories about housing from four post-socialist countries--Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Poland and Russia. Each country group then composed a StoryMap that added context, details, and reflections to illustrate how housing conditions and neighborhoods have changed since the end of socialism. Each group took a distinctive approach to storytelling as they brought to life their interviewees' personal stories and social observations.
