Made in Morocco

An oral history of the significance of artisan crafts and its potential future in Morocco as told by an emerging entrepreneur and woodworker in the ancient medina, or city, within Meknès. I was inspired to create this film as I was reminiscing on my last days living in Morocco before being evacuated due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. On my last day there, I talked to and filmed many of the local traditional artisans in the medina about their work. A year or so later, my friend Hamid started his own woodworking business, and I was curious to know more. I interviewed him and created this short film to submit as my final project for ARST 4452 in Spring 2025.
