- Students seeking study space
- Instructors teaching and working with large data visualizations and high-resolution images
- Scholars showcasing digital scholarship works and projects

An Open Study Area
Two Enclosed Group Study Rooms
Duran Visualization and Learning Lab
The Pierce Reading Room comprises several different spaces with different use policies, as described briefly below.
Open Study Area
- The majority of the Pierce Reading Room is an open study space, designed for individual and group work and providing several different types of table and seating options.
- The Open study area observes a Go Quiet period daily from 10:00 p.m.- 8:00 a.m.
- Open study areas are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Covered Drinks are allowed.
Study Rooms
- There are two enclosed Group Study Rooms within the Pierce Reading Room.
- These rooms are ADA accessible and can be reserved by GU faculty, staff, and students using the touchscreens mounted outside each room (note: advance online reservations coming soon).
- Reservations can be made for a maximum of 3 hours per day.
- Daily reservations for each room are displayed on screens mounted outside the rooms.
- Covered Drinks are allowed.
Duran Visualization and Learning Lab
- The Duran Visualization and Learning Lab is a technology-enabled space that can be reserved by Georgetown faculty and staff to conduct instructional sessions, or by research teams to conduct computational and data-intensive analysis and visualization activities. Student reservations will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

Display Case
The Duran Exhibition Case in the Pierce Reading Room showcases exhibitions curated by faculty, students, or staff who want to promote and showcase their scholarly work or creative projects. For details about this display case, see our Library Community Exhibition and Display Spaces page.
