Digitizing Meaning: Iouikhd Oukan Amarg

This project remixes the Tachelhit raïss song “Iouikhd Oukan Amarg” by R. Hmad Bizmaoun by inserting recorded English translation and explanations of its meaning between verses. Remixing both the song and the listening process, this project flips the idea of digitizing “lost” analog media on its head, and instead focuses on digitizing the nearly lost meaning of the song and its language. I used non-traditional tools (Adobe Premiere, a video editing software) instead of a traditional Digital Audio Workstation to make this song— in a way, remixing the remix process itself.
